The terms that govern your use of our site and services.

Last updated: July 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Ryse Athletic Club website and services. By using our site, joining, or buying a day pass, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

Using the Ryse mobile app?Sections 1 to 13 below apply to your membership. The app adds its own terms covering what you post, moderation, and account removal — see Section 14: Ryse mobile app.

1. Accounts & eligibility

You must give us information that is accurate, current and complete — including your legal name, date of birth, address, phone number and email — and keep it up to date. You confirm that everything you enter is true and that you are the person you say you are. We may ask to see government photo ID to confirm it, and we may refuse, suspend or cancel a membership where the information does not match, is incomplete, or was given by someone else. Agreements signed under inaccurate information may be void. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login secure. Memberships for anyone under 18 require a parent or guardian to agree to these Terms and the waiver on the member's behalf.

2. Memberships & billing

  • Membership pricing, tiers, and terms are shown at sign-up and billed through our billing provider (ABC Fitness).
  • Recurring memberships continue until cancelled per the terms of your membership agreement; initial-term and notice requirements may apply.
  • You authorize recurring charges to your payment method until you cancel as provided in your membership agreement.

3. Communications & consent

There are two kinds of messages we send, and they are treated differently:

  • Account & service messages (required): while you have an account with us, you agree to receive messages about your membership and account — billing and payment confirmations, past-due and payment-failure notices, membership and booking updates, password resets, and security and account alerts. These are not marketing, they are part of operating your membership, and you cannot unsubscribe from them while your account is active. We send them by email (and, where you have provided a number, may send account-related texts).
  • Marketing messages (optional): promotional emails and texts about new gear, classes, events, offers, and Ryse news are entirely optional. You choose whether to receive them when you sign up, and you can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by replying STOP to a marketing text — without affecting your membership or the account messages above.
  • By creating an account you consent to the account & service messages above. Standard message and data rates may apply to any texts.

4. Day passes

Day passes grant access for the selected date only and expire afterward. Day passes are generally non-refundable once issued, except as required by law.

5. Waiver & assumption of risk

Use of the facility, equipment, classes, and training involves inherent risks. By joining or visiting, you agree to the waiver and release you sign, and you assume the risks of physical activity. Follow staff instructions and posted rules at all times.

6. Acceptable use

  • Use the facility and equipment safely and respectfully; no harassment, threats, or unsafe behavior.
  • Don't share your door access or let others tailgate in on your credential.
  • Don't misuse, copy, scrape, or disrupt the website or member systems.

7. Payments & refunds

Payments are processed by our third-party providers. Membership dues are governed by your membership agreement; day-pass and other one-time charges are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated.

8. Intellectual property

The website, branding, and content are owned by Ryse Athletic Club or its licensors. You may not reuse them without permission.

9. Third-party services

Some features rely on third-party services (billing, door access, identity verification, payments, communications, and website analytics). Your use of those features may also be subject to the third party's terms, and we aren't responsible for their acts or outages.

9.1 Personal coaching

Coaching is sold and delivered by independent coaches, not by Ryse Athletic Club. When you subscribe to a coach you are entering an agreement with that person for their services. We provide the platform and handle the payment, and we keep a share of the subscription as a platform fee. We do not employ coaches, do not supervise their programming, and are not responsible for the advice they give or for any results. A coaching subscription is separate from your gym membership and from any app fee, so cancelling one does not cancel the others. If a coach stops coaching we will help you move or cancel, but we do not guarantee a replacement. Coaching is not medical advice — see the disclaimers below.

10. Disclaimers

The site and services are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ryse Athletic Club is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or services.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, and disputes will be handled in the courts located in Lake County, Illinois.

13. Changes

We may change these Terms at any time, at our discretion and without advance notice. The current version always lives on this page with its version and date at the top, and it takes effect as soon as it is posted. Continued use of the site, the app, or the gym after a change means you accept the updated Terms, so please check back. If you do not agree to a change, stop using the services and contact us about your membership.

14. Ryse mobile app

This section applies to the Ryse mobile app. It is in addition to the sections above and to your membership agreement, not instead of them. If you use the app, you agree to this section.

14.1 Who can use the app

You must be 16 or older to create an app account, and you must give a valid date of birth. Accounts belonging to members under 18 are private by default: their posts are not public, only accepted friends can message them, and they do not appear in member search. These protections are enforced by the system itself, not applied by request.

An app account is separate from your gym membership. Having one does not create a membership, and closing one does not close the other.

14.2 What you may and may not post

The app's Community Guidelines are the full standard, and they are shown inside the app. In summary, the following are never permitted:

  • Nudity, sexual content, or anything sexual directed at another member.
  • Anything sexual involving someone under 18. This is reported, not just removed.
  • Threats, or content meant to intimidate or frighten someone.
  • Slurs and hate speech, or attacks on who someone is.
  • Graphic violence or gore.
  • Selling or sourcing steroids, SARMs or prescription compounds.

The following are not allowed here:

  • Harassing a member, in the feed, in comments, or in messages.
  • Posting a photo of someone who did not agree to be in it.
  • Filming other members without asking. The gym floor is shared space.
  • Selling, soliciting, crypto pitches, or anything spammy.
  • Pretending to be another member, a trainer, or the club.
  • Posting content that is not yours: someone else's photos, videos or music.

Training content is the point of the app and is always fine: progress photos, physique shots, PRs, food, and honest posts about bad sessions.

14.3 Your content stays yours

You keep ownership of everything you post. You grant Ryse a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce and display that content inside the app, for the purpose of operating the app and showing your content to the members you chose to show it to. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it in advertising.

This licence ends when you delete the content. Deleting a post removes both the post and its image from our systems; see our Privacy Policy for what happens to backup copies.

14.4 We remove content and we close accounts

We remove content that breaks these terms, and we terminate the accounts of members who keep breaking them. Serious violations end an account immediately and without warning. We may do this at our discretion and without refunding anything, and it does not require us to notify you first.

Removing your app account does not cancel your gym membership or stop your dues.

14.5 How moderation actually works

  • Every photo is checked automatically before other members can see it. Most clear in about a second. Anything unclear is held until a member of staff looks at it, and you will see it marked as checking on your own feed until then.
  • A short list of slurs and similar terms is refused outright in posts, comments, names and bios. Ordinary gym language is not affected.
  • Any member can report a post, comment, message, profile or story. Reports go to a queue that a member of staff reads. We never tell the person reported who reported them.
  • Blocking works both ways: neither of you sees the other's posts, comments or profile, and neither can message the other.

We review reports as promptly as we reasonably can. We do not promise a fixed response time, because we would rather state what we do than commit to a clock we cannot always meet. If you think we got a decision wrong, email support@ryseathleticclub.com and a person will read it.

14.6 Tags

Members can tag each other in photos. You control who is allowed to tag you, in your app settings, and you can remove a tag of yourself at any time. Removing a tag does not delete the other member's post; if a post about you breaks these terms, report it.

14.7 Copyright and takedown

Do not post content you do not have the rights to, including other people's photos, videos, and music. If you believe something in the app infringes your copyright, email support@ryseathleticclub.com with: identification of the work, identification of the material you want removed and where it is in the app, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, a statement that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act for the copyright owner, and your signature. We remove infringing material and terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

14.8 Ryse Coach and other AI features

Ryse Coach is an artificial-intelligence feature. It provides general fitness and training guidance only. It is not medical advice, not dietetic advice, and not mental-health advice, it is not a substitute for a qualified professional, and it can be wrong. Do not rely on it to diagnose, treat, or make decisions about a medical condition. Talk to your doctor before starting or changing a training or nutrition programme, and stop and seek medical help if you feel unwell.

14.9 Deleting your app account

You can delete your app account from inside the app. Doing so removes your app data, including your posts and the photos attached to them. It does not cancel your gym membership and it does not stop your dues — membership billing is handled separately, and you need to talk to us at the desk to change it. A small number of records are deliberately kept; the Privacy Policy lists exactly which and why.

14.10 Disclaimers and liability for the app

The app and its content are provided “as is”. Content posted by members is theirs, not ours, and we do not endorse it. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ryse is not liable for content posted by other members, for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, or for any injury resulting from training guidance you chose to follow. You agree to indemnify Ryse against claims arising from content you post or from your breach of this section. Sections 10 to 12 above (disclaimers, limitation of liability, and Illinois governing law) apply to the app as well.

14.11 If you downloaded the app from Apple

  • These Terms are between you and Ryse Athletic Club only. Apple is not a party to them.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
  • Ryse, not Apple, is responsible for the app, for any product claims about it, and for addressing any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce this section against you.
  • You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo, and are not on any US Government restricted-parties list.
